Privacy Policy
In short
- Flint does not collect your data.
- Flint has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking.
- We don’t sell or share your data, because we don’t have it.
- Flint runs no servers of its own that carry your screen, chats or commands. Everything goes between your iPhone and your Mac.
Your Mac’s screen and sound, mouse, keyboard and clipboard
These travel only between your Mac and your paired iPhone over an encrypted connection: WebRTC with DTLS-SRTP, with a setup exchange signed by your pairing keys. Flint does not record your screen. Clipboard text moves only when you tap Send or Get.
Agent sessions: Claude Code and Codex
Flint for Mac reads the agents’ local files on your Mac: the session list, progress, chats and subscription limits, and shows them on your iPhone over the same encrypted connection.
Flint does not contact Anthropic or OpenAI servers, does not send requests to models on your behalf, and does not read the agents’ credential files.
To see agent events, Flint adds hooks to ~/.claude/settings.json and ~/.codex/hooks.json when you ask it to, and keeps a backup of the previous files. You can remove the hooks in Flint’s settings on the Mac.
Notifications on iPhone
When an agent needs your answer or finishes, Flint for Mac writes a short record to the private iCloud (CloudKit) database of your Apple Account. The record’s content is end-to-end encrypted by CloudKit: agent, project, Mac name and action text. Only internal identifiers and the time are stored in the clear. We have no access to your private iCloud database. The record is deleted after you answer, usually within 10 minutes. If your Mac goes to sleep or offline first, Flint deletes it soon after the Mac is back. Apple Push Notification service delivers the notification.
Camera, microphone and speech recognition
The camera is used only to scan the pairing QR code. Frames are not saved or sent anywhere.
A voice request to the assistant is recorded only while you use the microphone. Speech is recognized on device, on your iPhone or your Mac. Cloud recognition is not used.
The local assistant
The assistant runs on a model on your Mac. Your requests are not sent to cloud AI services.
What stays on your devices
- Paired Macs and their keys are stored in your iPhone’s Keychain, on this device only.
- On the Mac, pairing keys are stored in the Keychain. The built-in connection server’s data is kept in Flint’s folder on the Mac: Mac identifier, name, key hashes and the connection certificate. Settings are stored in the app’s preferences.
- To delete everything, remove the Mac from the list on your iPhone, reset pairing on the Mac and delete the apps.
Network and third parties
- Connection server. It helps your iPhone and Mac find each other. By default it runs inside Flint on your Mac. In Tailscale mode, the connection goes through your Tailscale network. In Custom relay mode, you use your own server, and its operator’s rules apply.
- STUN. In Direct internet mode, your iPhone and Mac contact Cloudflare’s public server (
stun.cloudflare.com) to learn their public address, so Cloudflare sees the devices’ IP addresses. We don’t receive this data. - Model downloads. If you turn on the local assistant, Flint for Mac downloads models from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), and Hugging Face sees your Mac’s IP address.
- Apple handles notifications, iCloud, app downloads, TestFlight and crash reports you choose to share with developers, under Apple’s own terms.
Children
Flint is not directed to children and does not collect children’s data.
